1. About this policy
This Cookie Policy explains how fretlore.com uses cookies and similar browser storage technologies.
Privacy contact: privacy@fretlore.com
2. Necessary browser storage
The website uses localStorage under fretlore-analytics-consent to remember whether you accepted or rejected analytics. When available, this preference remains until you change it or clear the website's browser storage.
If withdrawal cannot be saved to localStorage, the website may set the strictly functional first-party cookie fretlore-analytics-revoked. It contains only a boolean revocation marker and no personal information. It takes precedence over an older accepted localStorage value.
This fallback cookie uses Path=/, SameSite=Lax and Secure on HTTPS. Its maximum age is 31,536,000 seconds, approximately one year. The website attempts to clear it when a later choice can be stored.
These storage mechanisms are used to remember and respect your analytics choice.
3. Google Analytics cookies
Google Analytics is loaded only after analytics consent is effectively accepted.
GA4 may then set first-party cookies, including the following. Fretlore code does not create these cookies directly.
_ga
Used to distinguish users.
_ga_*
Used to maintain session information.
These cookies may remain in the browser until they expire, are removed by the browser or user, or are removed where technically possible after analytics consent is withdrawn.
Cookie lifetime in the browser is separate from our GA4 user-level and event-level data retention settings of 14 months. User-level retention can reset on new activity. These settings do not set cookie expiry.
Analytics is used to understand:
- visits and page views;
- scrolling;
- traffic sources, campaigns and UTM parameters;
- approximate location and device or browser characteristics;
- outbound clicks and qualifying file-download clicks;
- clicks on Steam and social platforms, including the separate
steam_wishlist_clickevent for Wishlist on Steam buttons; - contact email-link clicks and successful email-copy actions.
Video engagement measurement is enabled for supported embedded YouTube players, but this website does not currently embed a YouTube player.
4. Cloudflare
Cloudflare Pages hosts and delivers the website. Technical web requests needed to serve the website occur independently of your analytics choice.
5. No analytics before consent
Before you accept analytics:
- Google Analytics is not loaded;
_ga/_ga_*analytics cookies are not intentionally created by the website;page_view,social_click,steam_click,email_click,email_copyandsteam_wishlist_clickevents are not sent to GA4.
6. Managing your choice
When first visiting fretlore.com, you can choose:
Reject analytics
or
Accept analytics
Rejecting analytics does not prevent you from accessing the website.
You can later open the Cookie Policy link at the bottom of the website to view your current choice and change or withdraw your analytics consent.
If you withdraw consent, the website disables further GA4 events and attempts to remove _ga and _ga_* cookies associated with fretlore.com.
If localStorage cannot save your withdrawal, the functional fretlore-analytics-revoked cookie may prevent an old accepted preference from taking effect after reload. If neither storage mechanism works, analytics remains disabled for the current document, but that choice may not persist across reload.
7. Advertising cookies
Ads personalization is off in all regions, and no Google Ads account is linked. Google Signals is enabled for all available regions as described in the Privacy Policy.
